BLAMESTORM!

It's nasty out, and I'm waiting for step two of my current derby process, so what better time to revisit some old work? In honor of the storm of sorts drippin' outside, I think it's about time to discuss Blamestorming.

Blamestorming is pretty much exactly what you'd think it was... when a large group starts pointing the finger at anyone but themselves, usually bearing down on one scapegoat. Also, given the ridiculous nature of the word, people following along with the woot derbies might guess, and correctly, that this entry was for the "Other Words of the Year" derby. In fact, I'd sort of imagine there are wooters out there who might stumble on this blog and not remember this entry at all; while my woodchuck design managed a 6th place finish, this particular design didn't even get a 6th vote.

Conceptually, I was going for a fairly small-scale blamestorm... a fairly common image of a sullen dinner conversation, presumably between a couple, where every bite is deliberate, both parties angry at the other for something they did. The storm clouds were partly a play on the word, but also help the basic concept stand without a title. I was fairly proud of both entries this week, and I'm not 100% sure why this particular entry did nothing vote-wise. It's a fairly bold colour choice all around, I think, but I like how it works. The egotist in me blames the holiday week, which also would explain the poor vote numbers all around. I think it got lost in the shuffle. Agree? Disagree and want to set me straight? Tell me how you feel, and what you feel, and maybe why, even.
